Skype

Skype FAQ:

What is Skype, how does it work?

Skype is a computer program that allows people to make free video calls using the Internet. You need the following to use it:

  1. A computer and internet connection
  2. Skype software that can be downloaded for free from here.
  3. A camera, speakers and a microphone. Most new computers have this built in, otherwise you can buy a headset for around $15 and make calls without a camera.
  4. A skype account, which is created via the Skype website.

Is it confidential?

Yes. Skype calls are encrypted for confidentiality.

How do I set it up?

  1. Go the Skype website and download the latest version of Skype for Windows or Mac, then install it on your computer. For help and any questions you have about setting up or using Skype, see the skype website.
  2. Open Skype and add me to your Contact List. My username is ‘bcpannell’ in Byron Bay
  3. Try a test call to confirm your settings.
