Approach

One of the key features of Bridget’s approach is to explore stress reduction through mindfulness techniques. Many of the problems that we encounter stem from high levels of stress, that both cloud our thinking, and can have long term negative impacts on our health. Through learning to live more mindfully, that is to live more in the moment, we learn to worry less and natural stress reduction occurs. As a result, we often become much more creative in our problem solving, more effective in our interpersonal communication, and naturally happier.

Modern day marketing floods us with messages about how to find happiness through buying something. Yet most of us know that this doesn’t really work. A key skill to maintaining happiness is to learn that it is not found in something external to us, and that it comes from the way we respond to the experiences we are having. Counselling can help to establish a broader perspective to the problems we face, and also gain greater awareness as to how we are contributing to our own suffering.
